A kid and his crazy dream

"Seems almost incomplete, but nice style!"

date: September 19, 2003

This Flash is a little short for my tastes, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It's just that when you have an interesting idea such as this one, making the animation too short makes it seem incomplete and unfinished. I love your animation style though, and I'd really love to see you make this Flash longer and maybe even develop a story out of it. If you continued with this idea, you could very well end up in the Top 50 Of All Time list on the Portal. But yeah, that's all I had to say. It's great work, but it's a little too short. Good job.

"Interesting, but repetitive..."

submission: ::gunny bunny::

First of all, I'd like to congratulate you for making a game that so many people enjoy. Second, I'd like to applaud you on how well you did the graphics. It must have been hell making all those things 3-D like that. However, there are a few things about the game that I don't like. While fun, things got really repetitive, really fast. Perhaps if you made many different enemies. When I was playing this game, I spent at least five minutes tearing through the same enemies over and over again, and I'd hate to say it, but it got boring quickly. Also, it annoys me that there's no real way to aim. If you could somehow put these tiny little crosshairs in the middle of the screen so I know where the hell I'm shooting, that would also improve the gameplay. Don't take any of that too harshly though. I mean, I loved the game, but these are just a few ideas on how you could improve on it. Aside from that, awesome game.

Love Lost

"Very emotional piece of work..."

submission: Love Lost
date: September 18, 2003

I am one of the few people on this site that appreciate seeing serious Flask work on Newgrounds as opposed to the same jokes about sex and shooting celebrities that we have all come to know Newgrounds for. That having been said, I really enjoyed this short. You really made it so that the viewer could really connect to this young man; the one that finally decided that the only way out was to end his own life...

There aren't many Flash artists that can elicit a powerful emotional response from his viewers. However, you have done it extremely well. Beautiful work.

!!!JUMP AROUND!!!

"Great interpretation of a Hitchcock classic!"

submission: !!!JUMP AROUND!!!
date: September 17, 2003

Man, what inspired you to do this? I was wondering what would come out of this series ever since I saw the little "Alfred Hitchclock" logo on the Newgrounds BBS. Well, I wasn't disappointed. Granted, you could have made this movie a little more eye-catching that it is right now, but keeping it in black and white was definitely a good move. It really captures the feel of a classic Hitchcock flick. I'm probably going to be following the "Hitchclock" series from now on and I can't wait for your interpretation of "Rear Window". Just throw in a little humor. I've come to expect that from the Clocks. Excellent job, though.

Author's Response:

Thank you for the most excellent review. The thing is, this series is supposed to be a tribute to the great man, Alfred Hitchcock. I believe that adding clock humor into it, might be almost disrespectful. I want these movies to be as suspensful and thrilling as the real ones.

Worm's Revenge!

"Hilariously done!"

submission: Worm's Revenge!
date: September 17, 2003

This Flash is one of the funniest and cutest things I've ever seen on Newgrounds. I never thought I'd live to see the day that a little worm takes on a flock of birds but you've just made my day. I really like your style of animation too. Everything here is animated in such a simple manner, but it has the same feel as watching one of those really old Looney Tunes cartoons. I can understand why you'd animate it simply too, what with you doing it frame-by-frame and all. This must have taken a lot of effort, and it really shows. Good job.

T3 The Untold Story

"Try working with something other than sticks..."

date: September 16, 2003

One of the first things I noticed about this Flash animation is the fact that you seem to have slacked off in some areas of the film. Now, that's not meant as an insult, but it's more of a tip for the future. Taking a look at the backgrounds and the motorcycle in this animation, it's obvious that you actually have some artistic talent on your side. The only problem is, you're not putting nearly enough work into your Flash animations. Instead of working with what are essentially stick figures, you should add actual bodies to them and make them more detailed than they are here. God knows that you have the talent to, and why you're not doing so is completely beyond me. Aside from that, keep honing your Flash skills and put some real effort into your work. If you can do that, you'd definitely be earning higher scores than the lousy 1.74 you're stuck with right now.

turbo catalyst vampire

"Fun, but bugs keep getting in the way..."

date: September 16, 2003

First of all, I'd like to say that this is one of the most entertaining Flash games that I have played in a long time. While the gameplay is insanely simple, it's very well animated and everything runs smoothly... With the exception of a few bugs. As I'm sure you've already heard from just about every other review in this pile, bullets keep getting stuck in mid-air, jumps last way too long, you should add sound, and you REALLY need to fix all the damn bugs! Aside from that, I love the humor ("I love bagels!"; "Me too!") and I'd definitely give this game a perfect 10 if only the bugs didn't keep screwing me over. There's no reason to have to wait for a vampire to walk into a bullet stuck in mid-air before you can start firing again. Oh well, great job anyways. You should submit more stuff to Newgrounds in the future. In fact, I'm looking forward to it.

AB: Spermicide

"Almost better than sex itself!"

submission: AB: Spermicide
date: September 16, 2003

A very interesting twist on the classic Asteroids game. I never thought I'd be shooting at sperm instead of huge rocks in space while playing a game like this, but you have succeeded in putting a nice spin on a game adored by young and old alike. You seem to be very good at stuff like this though. "AB: 30K Starfighter" is the perfect example of a classic game that you've recreated and made better than its predecessor. This Flash game is no exception. Amazing, amazing work, and I look forward to much, much more from you in the future. Excellent game.

The word " Fuck "

"Been done before, but still funny as f*ck!"

submission: The word " Fuck "
date: September 15, 2003

First of all, this has been done way too many times, but there are particular aspects of this one that I enjoyed more than previous submissions. A lot of people love making Flash animations based on this little speech using the same setup you have here, with one guy on a stool ranting about the "F' Word" while images flash by on a screen. However, the reason I loved this one so much is because I rather enjoyed the artistic style that you have in those images. Like the stick figure smiling at the kid while saying "Why don't you go outside and play hide-and-go-f*ck-yourself". The images add so much more humor to the Flash, that I just can't help it but give you a high rating. This Flash isn't exactly the best thing on Newgrounds, but it's far from the worst. Good job.

"What the hell was that?"

date: July 5, 2003

Well, that was quite... something... Oh well, I still liked it nonetheless. You should have made a story about it though. All it was were a bunch of BBS user screenshots with little arms and legs drawn on them. You know, if all the BBS regulars didn't vote 5's on this, it probably would've been blammed. It was funny though, but for all the wrong reasons. Just put me in the sequel and all will be forgiven... Hehehe...

Author's Response:

Thanks, I'm glad you kinda liked it, even if I'll have to admit, it could have been better.
Yeah man, I'm aware that if the BBS regulars wouldn't have voted 5 this movie wouldn't have survived ... So {{{BBS users}}}.
Puttin' you in the sequel ? I'll try to promise. ! :-)
